October 6, 2023 – The Charlotte Motor Speedway was abuzz with excitement as the annual STEAM Expo brought together students, educators, and families from across the region to celebrate the wonders of science and creativity. Amidst the sea of exhibits and interactive displays, the Cornelius Youth Orchestra’s tent stood out as a musical oasis.
Under the “Musical Discovery Tent,” children of all ages had the unique opportunity to get hands-on with a variety of instruments, from violins and trumpets to flutes and clarinets. CYO Parent Volunteers were on hand to guide the young musicians.
The CYO’s decision to participate in the STEAM Expo came as part of their commitment to promoting music education and fostering an appreciation for the arts among the youth. This initiative aligns with the broader movement to incorporate arts into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum, turning it into STEAM.
