Davidson, NC – [December 7, 2024] – The Cornelius Youth Orchestra brought holiday cheer this past Saturday to the community with a festive performance at the Town of Davidson’s annual Christmas in Davidson event, held on December 5-7, 2024. CYO ensembles performed in two locations, sharing the joy of the season through a variety of beloved holiday music.
Inside the beautiful Davidson United Methodist Church, the CYO performed a selection of holiday favorites, including Sleigh Ride, excerpts from The Nutcracker, and The Polar Express. The young musicians captivated the audience with their energy and talent, skillfully interpreting these holiday classics. The concert concluded with a lively performance of Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival, a beloved medley of holiday tunes that perfectly captured the festive spirit of the season.
Following the indoor performance, the CYO Brass Ensemble and Junior Brass Ensemble ventured outdoors, despite the chilly evening temperatures, to play traditional Christmas carols at the stage outside the Davidson Library. “The Cornelius Youth Orchestra is honored to be a part of such a cherished community event,” said CYO Executive Director Eric Boruff. “It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season together with our family, friends, and neighbors in Davidson.”
Participating in Christmas in Davidson is a perfect example of the Cornelius Youth Orchestra’s commitment to providing high-quality performing arts experiences for the community. By engaging in such meaningful local events, the CYO fosters a love for music, supports artistic development, and strengthens the cultural fabric of our community. The Orchestra is proud to be an integral part of Davidson’s vibrant arts scene and is grateful to Mayor Knox and the Town of Davidson for the opportunity contribute to the holiday festivities with such a memorable performance.
