Cornelius, NC – [November 3, 2024] – The Cornelius Youth Orchestras’ junior performing ensembles opened their 2024-2025 season with a fall concert on Monday, October 28 which took place in the Joe V. Knox Auditorium inside the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville. The event featured pieces by Douglas E. Wagner, Michael Story, Antonio Vivaldi, and more.
Audience members were treated to the inaugural performances of two new performing ensembles, Cornelius Youth Orchestras’ new Junior Woodwind Ensemble, under the direction of Nick Ritter, and Sinfonia Strings, under the direction of Julia Fierova. For many of the young musicians, the evening marked their first on-stage performance, but certainly not their last, with an ensemble.
The Junior Brass Ensemble, led by Andrew Fierova, thrilled audience members with two pieces by David Marlatt, Mars: God of War which mimicked the sounds of war and Stormchaser which echoed the excitement of chasing a tornado.
The Philharmonic, directed by Jen Bassett, brought the musical night to a close by showcasing their talent and dedication with two pieces, Medieval Legend by Michael Story and Ancient Echoes of Time by Douglas E. Wagner.
Cornelius Youth Orchestras’ next major event will be a festive Christmas concert, featuring all performing ensembles on December 14, promising seasonal favorites and a chance to celebrate the holidays with the community.
